It is not necessary to purchase or read the book or to be familiar with Metta Meditation, though participants are welcome to buy the book for themselves.

Sharon Salzberg is the cofounder of the Insight Meditation Society and the Barre Center for Buddhist Studies, and an international leader of meditation retreats. Over three weeks, we will touch on the six chapters in this book. Each week we will examine the main idea in one of her chapters for one hour; covering two chapters over the two hours. Each idea will be examined through a brief presentation, questions for journaling and/or sharing in small groups, and a guided meditation using Salzberg’s teaching of Metta Meditation.

 June 13: Compassion in Action and Kindness Toward Ourselves

June 20: Overcoming Cruelty and How We See the World

June 27: Ethics and Kindness and The Intention of Kindness

Please wear comfortable clothing and bring a journal and your favorite writing instrument.

Each week we will deeply explore questions/impact of personal beliefs.

The goal is to identify and uncover unconscious or incongruent beliefs; bringing clarity, intention and alignment with what you choose to believe.
